Congratulations to Intan Syafienaz Mohamad Bakhid (17, Perak), Lovira Jospely (14, Sabah) and Stephanie Tam Zhu Shin (14, Selangor)! The three young artists came out tops in the Colours of My World art contest organised by Kakikreatif, Pos Malaysia and UNICEF.
The artwork from each of the children was used to produce a special set of stamps (link to stamp page) for Universal Children’s Day. Each winner also received a cash prize of RM 10,000 from Pos Malaysia.
Colours of My World is an eye opening way of seeing the world through the perspectives of children with disabilities. It is also a critical reminder that what is most important are the abilities that define these children -- not their disabilities.
Organised by Kakikreatif, Pos Malaysia and UNICEF, the Colours of My World art contest received original masterpieces from 120 children between the ages of 13 and 17 in Malaysia, diagnosed with a physical, sensory or developmental disability.
Colours of My World was launched in conjunction with the 5th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) on 8 May 2013 to encourage greater public understanding, acceptance and inclusion for children with disabilities. The contest closed on 20 June 2013.
